Rules of the RolePlay Thank you for reading this part now - the rules for the actual RP. This thread is all about the rules to rp on this site, and are expected to be followed at all times. These rules are created to make things easily understood for all involved, as well as set things up so that role plays run smoothly. General Rules These are the more generic rules regarding the RP site. These are extremely important to follow, and are a necessity for smooth roleplaying between members. 1. One account per member, we understand you might want to RP all of your characters, but we ask you to make a single account to keep things cleaner. Please make sure your username on the RP site matches your PI account username so everyone knows it's you. Please also make sure that you create both a thyci tracker, as well as link to your owners folder in your signature here on the site! If you have any questions about how to update the signature, feel free to PM Dyzzie and she'll be happy to explain the mechanics of the proboards site easily. However, for a quick explanation you'll go to Profile --> Edit Profile --> Personal. 2. Rating is General, this means that we do not allow any material that can be considered 'traumatic' or requiring a warning. We want to be able to be have all discussions and themes on the site suitable to all age levels. This also means furthers to a No Profanity, Offensive, or adult themes. If you're worried about what might be allowed, or approved, ask yourself this question: 'Would I feel comfortable, and okay to post this on PonyIsland?' if the answer is no, do not post it here. 3. This website is for Roleplaying for the Thicket only. Please keep all conversations to this level, and make sure only PI topics, or The Thicket topics are being discussed in non-RP threads. While we understand that non-PI topics might come up, please put these towards private messages, and remember that at all times, the rating is to remain at a General level. 4. Absolutely NO ADVERTISING is to be allowed on this site, especially for any third party websites. If you want to link to your PI account - do so in the proper location in the profile. You may also advertise for Breeding or Art Mailing Lists on PonyIsland in your signature. All other advertisements are NOT allowed. Role Playing Rules These are all the rules regarding the actual roleplaying of characters that take part on the site, and must be followed closely. It helps to make things fun and fair for everyone, and keeps everyone happy when your characters interact with theirs. 1. This site allows Liquid Time, which means you may post more than one thread (per Thyci) at a time. We do ask that you limit yourself to no more than four threads at a time with one Thyci, and have a running time line, so you knew when one thread is happening in relation to another. 2. Third Person Roleplaying is the only form of roleplaying allowed. We ask that you keep all posts in the third person point of view, and in the past tense. For those of you who might not be familiar with this, this means that role playing should be written from an outsider point of view. Examples:First Person/Not Allowed: I walked forward, and smiled at the other Thyci, waving to them in greeting. 3. God Modding/Powerplaying is not allowed. Anyone unfamiliar with these terms, Power Playing, also called God Modding, is when you control another player's Thyci, or when you give your own Thyci knowledge they shouldn't know - including out of character knowledge they personally have not been told. This is an absolute not allowed. Do NOT control any other Thyci accept your own, and please be sure that you don't give your Thyci knowledge they haven't been given in Character. Examples:One:P1: Thyci A calls forward Thyci B. Thyci B runs towards them, before falling into a large pit, while Thyci A laughs maniacally. 4. On that same note, Mary Sues and Gary Stu characters are to be avoided, as well as all God-Like Characters. For those unfamiliar with these terms, a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is considered a perfect character. Well liked, no flaws, always looks beautiful. They aren't very fun to play with, or to play against. Remember, all characters have flaws which is why all Thyci are created and certed with one positive, and one negative trait. A God-Like character is a character who seems to have god-like abilities, including but not limited to never being sick/wounded, unable to die, always doing something perfect. We like characters with dimension, so please try to keep that dimension at all times! In the Threads These are rules about the threads themselves to help keep things easy to understand and moving smoothly while In Character. 1. Once you're actually RPing, please remember to only use certed Thyci! These Thyci need to be in your owner's folder to be used, especially because we need to be able to update stats if you are to win them, as well as being aware of the stats of the Thyci taking part in quick events. 2. When in a thread, move appropriately. This means when your Thyci moves locations, be aware of how close/how far away from where they originally started. A typical rule to follow is asking the question - are they in the same general location/board location. If you start at the river, and they move to different parts of the river, this can all be done in the same thread. However, if they leave the river and go back to Nuglade, then they'll need to have a new thread started at where ever they go in Nuglade. This is just to keep things orderly, as well as the fact that different enemies and events happen in different locations, so traveling from one location to another could also have better enemies, or rewards for showing up in them! 3. Stay in Character, roleplaying is meant to be done in character, so please avoid too much out of character comments in roleplay. A quick note at the beginning or end of a post is okay, but make sure you mark it as OOC (out of character) so that everyone involved in the thread is aware of that fact. 4. Follow an Order, it is common roleplaying etiquette that when RPing, you follow a posting order, this means that if you have four people in an RP, they post in the order of 1, 2, 3, 4, rather than randomly. We know that some people may post faster than others, but this makes it a lot easier than when everyone posts randomly. The only time this rule is ignored is during large, group events. As a typical rule: If more than eight Thyci are in a thread - or the thread is being led by a staff member - a posting order should be followed. If there is a more than eight, please let at least two people reply before you do. If there is ever a period of inactivity [48-72 hours] in which a person is supposed to respond to the thread, at this time, the next member may post to keep the thread moving, and the skipped player must wait until it is their turn again. 5. Staff-led Threads. These threads are all the threads that are led and organized by staff members, and are usually event threads. During these threads, you will usually be given a time frame of when to reply to the latest staff post - and to post your response to their challenges (done in character). Please make sure at least once per staff post you post a response to stay updated and part of the event. Beyond that, as long as your post as to do with the current challenge or event mentioned in the most recent staff post, you can post as often as you wish - so long as you let at least two people reply before you do. 6. Events in Posts are something special we have here, in which your Thyci can encounter all kinds of interesting things, items or even creatures and enemies. You can find more about them here. Please make sure you also post your event in the Reporting an Event! Thread as well, just to help us keep track of them. Most events are mandatory to interact with, and your interactions can help your Thyci continue to grow as well! So hopefully you'll enjoy it just as much as we've enjoyed writing up the events and encounters for you! That's All! We reserve the right to add rules as we see we need them, in which case we will send out alerts to let all members know that we have new rules going on! Thank you so much! |
